Annual Larry Monroe Scholarship Award
MACKENZIE GLEYSTEEN RECIPIENT OF THE
2017 FBI NEIA’S MONROE SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to Mackenzie Gleysteen, daughter of Michael and Nancy Gleysteen, for her selection as the 2017 recipient of the FBI National Executive Institute Associates’ annual Monroe Scholarship. Michael Gleysteen, a graduate of the 37th NEI session, is Assistant Director, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), U.S. Department of Justice.
Mackenzie has recently graduated from Battlefield High School in Haymarket, VA, with a 4.31 GPA and has been accepted into the Virginia Tech Honors Program for the fall of 2017. At Battlefield High School she was the Co-President of the English Honor Society, the Vice President of the National Honor Society and the managing editor of the school literary magazine, Vox Populi.
Mackenzie has lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Kansas City and Virginia during her school years and despite the adversity of being forced to move every couple of years she excelled academically and participated in a number of community related activities. She worked with reading to underprivileged children; “Operation Paperback” collecting and sending books to our military service members overseas; “A Million Thanks” organization which distributedt over 200 letters from students to military men and women. Her extracurricular activities include her true love of the equestrian sports where she has been ranked nationally as a rider for several years.
The FBI NEIA Monroe Scholarship Committee unanimously selected Mackenzie Gleysteen as the recipient of the 2017 Monroe Scholarship in the amount of $5000 for her academic achievements and her service to the community.
